The number of moving blankets or furniture pads you will need for your residential move depends on the amount and type of furniture you have. As a general rule of thumb, you should have at least one furniture pad per large item of furniture, such as a sofa, bed, dresser, or table.
If you have fragile or delicate items, you may want to use additional moving blankets to provide extra protection during the move. Additionally, if you have any antiques or valuable items, you may want to consider using specialized padding or crating to ensure their safety.
It’s always better to have more furniture pads than you think you’ll need, as they can be used to protect other items during the move, such as electronics or artwork.
If you don’t have an out of the ordinary move with loads of fragile pieces, wood furniture, or artwork, we recommend you use our furniture pad calculator below. This works very well for the average residential move.
