Frequently Asked Questions

Our most frequently asked questions and answers

The closest airport to Raleigh is the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). It is about 13.1 miles or a 19-minute drive from Durham’s city center. Alternatively, you could fly into the Charlotte airport (CLT) which is typically cheaper, but much further away at 170.5 miles, or a 2 hour and 34-minute drive.

Utilizing data collected from Uhaul’s MovingHelp platform, we found that the cost for hiring local moving labor in Raleigh, NC is between $50 and $80 per hour per mover with a minimum of anywhere between 2 and 5 hours. The rate can change, however, depending on the size of the project. For instance, if you need assistance moving a piano or gun safe, there may be additional fees associated. Here at UniMovers Raleigh, we offer a low flat rate of $60/hour/mover without any added fees.

The number of movers needed varies based on the project, however, a good rule of thumb for residential moves is to match the number of movers to the number of bedrooms, or have one more mover than the number of bedrooms. So if you are moving to or from a 2-bedroom home, we would recommend hiring 2-3 movers.
